Investigated through discussions and film. Facilitated by community leaders and members of the Ad Hoc Commemoration Establishment Committee.
The Game Changers Media Series concludes with a community book discussion of Red and Me, a poignant memoir in which Bill Russell reflects on his life-altering relationship with his legendary coach and mentor, Red Auerbach.
More than a basketball story, Red and Me is an intimate exploration of mentorship, trust, conflict, and mutual respect—an unlikely and enduring friendship forged amid the pressures of winning, leadership, and identity. Set against the backdrop of the greatest dynasty in NBA history, Russell examines how Red Auerbach shaped not only his career, but his understanding of loyalty, accountability, and personal growth.
This discussion invites participants to consider the power of mentorship, the complexity of leadership relationships, and what it means to be challenged by someone who believes deeply in your potential. Whether you have read the book in full or are simply interested in leadership, relationships, and legacy, all are welcome to join the conversation.
