Join us for a screening of the 1954 Westinghouse Studio One production of "The Death and Life of Larry Benson."
This Veterans' Day program is focused on the question of who our warriors are when they return from war, and how we receive them. We have combed the depths of our Kanopy digital app to find this episode from television's earliest days, starring Skip Homeier, Chester Morris, Peg Hillias, and a very young Lee Remick. Filmed in black and white a year after the conclusion of the Korean War, "The Death and Life..." tells the tale of the unexpected return home of Larry Benson three years after he had been reported missing on the battlefield. We will screen the episode, and come together in conversation afterwards to talk about the welcome given to returning warriors, and the impact of their absence and return on their families.
