Learn to play Mah Jongg, a tile-based strategy game, with this five-week instructional series, taught by RPL's own Mah Jongg maven, Alissa.
Mah Jongg is a tile-based game, generally for four players, that originated in China and has spread worldwide. It combines elements of strategy, skill, and chance. The game involves forming sets and pairs with 144 tiles, aiming to be the first to complete a specific hand as defined by a yearly card.
In this five-week series, learn all of the basics, along with helpful strategies. Gather with others to learn this challenging and fun game! Registration will sign you up for all five classes.
The Library will provide Mah Jongg tile sets and cards.
Following this series of classes, the library will offer a monthly Mah Jongg meetup in the winter months for players who want to keep up the practice and play the game with others.
