6:00pm - 8:00pm
Reading Public Library
Community Room (A & B)View a family-friendly movie about this holiday and learn to make the craft "papel picado," a brightly colored tissue paper banner.
Join us to learn more about The Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos in Spanish, a family-oriented holiday in Mexico and other parts of Latin America, with roots in pre-Columbian traditions. Usually celebrated on November 1-2, it’s a special time to honor and remember deceased family members each year. Families prepare their homes and local graveyards with decorations like papel picado and altars with ofrendas (offerings) such as marigolds, portraits and photographs, candles, and plates of delicious treats. Supplies and instructions for making papel picado (a cut-out tissue paper banner) will be made available during the movie.
RSVP encouraged, but not required.
This event is graciously brought to you by the Friends of the Reading Public Library.
