Join Boston Globe staff reporter Emily Sweeney as she delves into some of Boston's cold cases, especially long-forgotten ones, with the hope that maybe someone will come forward with new information or evidence that can help investigators. Started in 2023, the Cold Case Files project has featured stories from across the Commonwealth and throughout the last 50 years. Tonight's program will focus on not only the crime itself, but also the subsequent investigations and new discoveries.
Emily Sweeney is a staff reporter at The Boston Globe. Her Blotter Tales column appears in the Metro section of the paper every Sunday and she recently launched the Cold Case Files, a new series and newsletter about unsolved murders. Her areas of expertise include history, crime, and technology, and she's the author of several nonfiction books, including Boston Organized Crime, Gangland Boston, and Dropkick Murphy: A Legendary Life.
As a journalist Sweeney has been featured on many TV and radio programs, making appearances on BBC Radio, Court TV, the Travel Channel, History Channel, Science Channel, Beat the Press, Bloomberg Radio, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation, NESN, and other media outlets.
She most recently appeared as a guest expert in Bloody Boston, a two-part documentary series about organized crime in Boston, as well as the History Channel’s Gangland Chronicles show and the Netflix series How To Become a Mob Boss.
