Travel the world while staying in Reading...
...through the dance and music traditions of a variety of countries and regions, including countries from the Balkans, Scandinavia, the United States, Central and South America, and Asia. The Reading Public Library is pleased to present this series of four folk dance classes, taught by New England Folk Arts Center's Executive Director, Marcie van Cleaves, brightening winter's coldest, darkest days. Traditional dancing is good for the heart, soul, and soles. It’s great exercise, and the perfect way to come together in community, as has been done in villages and small towns across the globe for millennia. All are invited to participate; no partners or experience are required. Each week’s program will feature new dances as well as repeats of prior classes' instant favorites. This series will present a sensory cornucopia of music and movement, a chance to get out of the house and safely move, meet others and have fun. There could be no more fitting reboot to our Livewires programming series!
This program is made possible through the generous support of The Friends of the Reading Public Library, and the kind hospitality of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading.
