Do you devour books about TRUE things like nature, history, biographies, and science? Join our Nonfiction Smackdown club to read and vote: Whose facts will reign supreme?
For each meeting, you'll read 2 or 3 picture book nonfiction titles assigned by your fearless leader, Librarian Ashley. When we get together for our meeting, we'll discuss the books, loosely using the nonfiction Sibert Medal criteria. Then we'll vote and decide which one we think is the BEST. At our final meeting in May, we'll have one big vote to see which book was our ultimate favorite and rank all the titles.
This book discussion club is for kids in grades 4-5. Snacks will be provided, and assigned books will be placed on hold for club participants. When you register, you are signing up for all 6 meetings during the 2024-2025 school year: October 10, December 5, January 16, March 6, April 10, and May 29.
Nonfiction Smackdown is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Reading Public Library. Thank you, Friends!
